As you know, concerns are being expressed about the spread of Covid-19. As a health care provider, I have considered how best to respond to this challenge. The situation is constantly evolving, and these protocols will be adjusted accordingly.
If you are feeling unwell: regardless of whether you clearly have a head cold, regular seasonal flu, or a concern as yet undiagnosed, I request that you call or email to reschedule your appointment. No charge will be made for same-day cancellations on this basis.
If you have had recent contact: with an individual diagnosed with Covid-19, or who is unwell, whether with a head cold, regular seasonal flu or a concern as yet undiagnosed, if you have recently visited the site of a significant outbreak, or if you have been asked to self-isolate, please call or email to reschedule your appointment. No charge will be made for same-day cancellations on this basis.
If you have traveled: outside Canada and are self-isolating please email me and we can schedule a time to speak so I can discuss alternative ways to provide service to you other than in person during your time in self-isolation.
If you are in self-isolation: please email me and we can schedule a time to speak so I can discuss alternative ways to provide service to you other than in-person during your time in self-isolation.
Video Sessions: Where appropriate I will endeavor to offer you a remote video-link appointment in lieu of an in-person appointment. I will also do this if for any reason I am required to self-isolate.
Phone Sessions: Alternate ways in which sessions can be offered include over the phone. We can discuss what is appropriate for you.
In Person Sessions: Can be scheduled where appropriate. My office is large enough for physical distancing (staying 2 meters/6 feet apart). You are also free to wear a mask, and if you have one please bring it with you. I will have masks available if you forget yours. I will also use personal protective equipment (mask, face shield) where appropriate.
Hygiene: In keeping with the best practice guidelines, please continue regular hand washing with soap and avoid handshaking. I will be washing my hands between each client and ask that you wash your hands once you arrive for your appointment. Communal surfaces (such as door knobs, chairs) will be disinfected between clients. Tea and water are not being offered at this time.
Self-Assessment: Please consider using this self-assessment tool prior to our appointment.
Contact Tracing and Confidentiality: If you participate in in-person psychological services, you are advised and consent to my providing contact information to appropriate health authorities for contact tracing as required. This situation could arise if I, you, or another client, were to test positive for COVID-19, when another client who has tested positive has attended the same physical space, or any other contact I know has tested positive for COVID-19.
Informed Consent: Clients understand that there are certain risks associated with attending an in-person session. By attending the appointment, clients agree to the terms outlined herein. If you have concerns regarding any of the aforementioned polices, I encourage you to speak with me so I am able to address your concerns.
